10 Great Xbox One Games Coming In 2015

by GH Staff

If you haven’t already picked up a Xbox One console, then 2015 will be the reason you’ll wish you had one. The current generation of new consoles have been out for nearly a year now, with somewhat of a slow start and some bumps along the road. While we’re still getting scuffles in gaming forums over resolutiongate and only now are some of the bigger titles hitting store shelves, by 2015 there will be a wealth of titles to make you glad you purchased a Xbox One. Here are 10 great games coming to Xbox One in 2015.

10. Evolve

Man vs monster: your choice. In Evolve, you get to either be a part of a team of 4 ‘hunters’, fighting off wildlife and being stalked by a ferocious monster, or you get to be the monster itself. Developed by the team behind the original Left 4 Dead, in this game you’ll have to put teamwork first and find ways to co-ordinate and take down a monster that can quite literally evolve as it fights you. What we’ve seen so far of Evolve has been very impressive and it’s sure to be one of the biggest co-op games next year. This game drops on February 10 2015.

9. The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will take you to a massive fantasy world filled with danger, monsters and exploration. Those with a fix for open world action will definitely find it in this game. Continuing on from the excellent previous game, The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings, the developer CD Project Red is working hard to craft an immersive and detailed world for people to enjoy. Difficulty is a major part of Witcher games, so this experience isn’t for the faint of heart. However, those willing to take on the challenge will get their chance when The Witcher 3 releases on February 24 2015.

8. Rise of The Tomb Raider

Capitalizing on the success of the stellar Tomb Raider reboot in 2013, Rise of the Tomb Raider will continue Lara Croft’s new adventures. We’ve seen very little of the game besides the E3 2014 reveal and hopefully we’ll get more gameplay details soon. However, if the previous game is anything to go by, this game may give Uncharted some competent competition. Xbox One owners will get their hands on this exclusively in 2015 before PS4 owners, a decision which was met with mixed reception. Look out for Lara’s next outing sometime in 2015.

7. Mortal Kombat X

As if Mortal Kombat wasn’t gruesome enough, MKX takes things to a whole new level. The next gen detail coupled with the visceral new X-Ray moves that show muscle and skin being ripped apart creates some very eye-popping moments. Series veteran characters return and newcomers are introduced, including Kotal Kahn and Cassie Cage. NetherRealm Studios mixes up the usual MK formula by introducing multiple play-styles to each individual character, allowing you to pick which best suits you as a player. You’ll get to break some bones and finish some fighters when MKX releases on April 14 2015.

6. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

If you purchased Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, then you’ve already gotten a taste of what’s in store in the 5th official installment of Metal Gear Solid. Hideo Kojima is taking the experience to an open world setting, where you are free to tackle missions in any way you see fit. The focus and narrative tone are much darker this time around, centered on revenge and payback after the events of Ground Zeroes. Snake will be able to enlist the help of the enigmatic silent sniper ‘Quiet’ and even a one-eyed wolf companion. See where Snake’s path takes him in early 2015.

5. Rainbow Six Siege

Complete environment destruction and tactical multiplayer gameplay is the score in Ubisoft’s latest Rainbow Six game. Shifting from the single player directed experience that was Rainbow Six Patriots, into the much more multiplayer-centric experience of Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft is bringing back tactical gameplay in a big way. Siege has all the features and accessible gameplay of modern shooters, but places a larger emphasis on team play and being aware of your surroundings at all times. So far we’ve seen the surprisingly well designed ‘Hostage Rescue’ mode from E3 2014, but Ubisoft assures us that there will be more modes available at launch. We’ll see how good Siege is sometime in 2015.

4. Quantum Break

Remedy Entertainment are back with another action game spectacular in Quantum Break, a third person shooter with time mechanics. So far, we’ve seen excellent presentation and visual detail in gameplay for Quantum Break, and there’s bound to be more surprises to come later on. Time is always a complicated subject to use in games, but Remedy are treating it with both a balanced narrative and a fun atmosphere. This is definitely a title to look out for, especially for fans of Remedy’s previous games: Max Payne and Alan Wake. You’ll get to have all the time you want with this game when it releases in Q2 2015.

3. Batman: Arkham Knight

All the delays in the world can’t derail the hype for Rocksteady’s newest Batman game. An even bigger open world, use of the Batmobile, new takedowns and combat actions, and much more. Rocksteady is meticulously creating the essential Batman experience for fans and we all can’t wait to give it a try. In conjunction with DC Comics, the developers were able to create a unique villain for this particular game, one that exists as a direct polar opposite to Batman himself: the Arkham Knight. Also expect to see familiar Batman villains and characters along the way such as Harley Quinn, who will be playable for the first time as a pre-order bonus. Find the truth behind the Arkham Knight on June 2 2015.

2. The Division

Everything shown thus far for this game has been nothing short of impressive. Massive Entertainment are working hard to bring this new open world, third person shooter to gamers in an exciting way. Players will be able to explore the decrepit streets of New York City, uncovering the causes of the breakdown that occurred. Amazing detail has been achieved with the game’s use of the Snowdrop Engine, a beautiful rendering engine that was used to build the world of The Division. We’ve also seen from the E3 2014 story trailer that the plot is a very dramatic affair, with some dark undertones and shocking revelations. Team up with your friends to take back New York City when this game drops sometime in 2015.

1. Halo 5: Guardians

A Xbox console wouldn’t be quite right without a Halo game. 343 Industries will continue the story of Master Chief after the phenomenal events of Halo 4 and bring the Halo experience to current gen. You’ll get a taste of the Halo 5 mutliplayer in the beta that comes with The Master Chief Collection, which releases in a few weeks. Halo 5 will tell the story of not just Master Chief, but also of Agent Locke, a new figure within the Halo narrative. We’ll learn of his place within the plot by watching Halo: Nightfall, the original live action series that can be accessed through The Master Chief collection. What will become of Master Chief? We’ll find out in Q4 2015.

These are just 10 of several amazing Xbox One games coming in 2015 and I’m sure there’s several that many others are looking forward to. Let us know in the comments which Xbox One games you will be picking up in 2015.
