Microsoft have released their Kinect v2 for Windows PC on their store and it is now available for pre-order. It costs $199/£159 and a full list of pricing can be found here. The Microsoft website boasts a list of new improved features such as: improved skeletal tracking, better depth sensing, a wider field of view and full 1080p video capabilities.
Although the Kinect is usually associated with gaming, for better or for worse, Microsoft are planning the Kinect for PC to be usable with a wide range of apps. They have also announced a public beta of the software SDK 2.0 that will be made available to developers, Microsoft are expecting developer apps to be available later this year.
However, this is not the Kinect that will be sold separately to the upcoming Kinect-less Xbox One and is in fact incompatible with the console. The pricing of the separate Xbox Kinect is as of yet unknown.
