Naruto-Storm-Revolution-Mecha-Naruto-35As Naruto Uzumaki would say, “Believe it!”. Naruto Shippuden : Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution span’s across the massive Naruto and Naruto Shippuden anime. The first thing you notice about Ninja Storm Revolution is the massive 118 roster, including all your favorites such as Naruto, Sakura, Sassuke and Kakashi (my personal favorite). What I always loved about the Ninja Storm series is the simplicity of the controls. The controls remain the same and feel more tight and responsive. The combat remains the same as well and in my opinion that’s a great thing for fans of the Ultimate Ninja Storm series. Personal I would have liked to see a tweak to the defensive mechanics. A new addition to the series is the three drives system which is chosen before battle. Ultimate Jutsu Type which allows the player to pull of Ultimate Jutsu attacks. Awakening Type allows the player to flick the right stick during battle to enter a boost mode. Drive Type which is built for use in tag team battles, allows players to pull of tag team combos and finishers.

Naruto_Shippuden_Ultimate_Ninja_Storm_Revolution_-_Ninja_World_Tournament_TrailerUltimate Ninja Storm Revolution sees the inclusion of four-way ninja combat. The battle field holds four combatants under a time limit in which you beat each other up in a fight to be the last ninja standing. Combatants can also collect orange orbs that litter the battle field which are used as multipliers in the end battle score. This mode is more fun with friends at home or online due to how the CPU once in a while stands around.

Story mode in Ultimate Ninja Storm works differently than past versions. Ninja Escapades allows players to watch special anime stories with occasionally fighting thrown in. Escapade stories are untold stories such as the formation of the creation of the Akatsuki and the unlock-able Mecha Naruto story. The other mode is Ninja World Tournament. Basically a tournament that spans the Naruto universe to determine who is the greatest Ninja of the Naruto Universe. While not participating in fighting, you can explore the island and talk to other characters similar to the Hidden Leaf Village hub in past Ultimate Ninja Storm games. I do miss the traditional play through the anime series, I always found it fun to relive moments from Naruto and Naruto Shippuden.

The online aspect of Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution is not for the faint of heart. Like all fighting games be prepared before going online or you will be pushed around.

While I do enjoy the Naruto Shippuden games, I feel this edition is more of the same. Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution didn’t do much to separate its self from Ultimate Ninja Storm 3 which I feels is the best in the series. I recommend Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution to those who can’t get enough of the series or want to jump into the Ninja Storm Games.
