Time to return to the hacker world of Watch Dogs but not as Aiden Pearce, this time you will play as Raymond “T-Bone” Kenney in Watch Dogs: Bad Blood. Bad Blood takes place after Aiden Pierce’s exploits during Watch Dogs. In revisiting Chicago you will revisit familiar locations and new locations. One of the newer locations takes place inside the Blume building where Raymond and Tobias once worked. The indoor Blume level was a puzzle based map filled with laser sensors that forced me to time the sensors so that I may sneak pass without triggering an automatic game over. What’s the difference between playing as Pearce compared to T-Bone? T-Bone controls exactly like Pierce but instead of using a retractable baton T-bone uses a taser for stealth attacks and a wrench for melee. Raymond also has an RC car named “Eugene” which is equipped with a stun gun that instantly knocks out enemies.
Bad Blood offers three unique side missions: Sweep the Streets, Fox Hunt and Council of Daves. Sweep the Streets takes the place of gang hideouts, it’s exactly the same type of mission. With the only difference being Sweep the Streets adds objectives, usually a required objective and an optional objective. One example found in-game required me to knock out three enemies while the optional objective being a time limit. Sweep the Streets can be co-oped with a friend online but the difficulty goes up making the missions a lot tougher. Fox Hunt missions involve T-Bone tracking down Fixers who want to cash on Blumes bounty on locating Aiden Pearce. Tracking down the Fixers is a mix of intrusion and investigation missions. Council of Daves is a series of locating scan codes to figure out who and what has the hacker group DedSec spooked. Completing side missions rewards the player with outfits for T-Bone and exclusive perks.
How does the story hold up? The story involves Raymond “T-Bone” Kenney attempting to throw Blume off his tracks so he may flee Chicago with out being hounded by Fixers hired by Blume. T-Bone soon finds himself being pulled into helping his old Blume coworker Tobias from being hunted by Fixers. The pair soon figure out that the Fixers hired by Blume were going after Tobias to draw out T-Bone. Among the hired Fixers is Defalt who has bad blood for T-Bone. Defalts brother was killed in the 2003 blackout which Raymond Kenney was responsible for. Eventually the two have a showdown inside Defalts lair. I found the story of Bad Blood to be more enjoyable compared to the main story of Watch Dogs. The dialogue between T-Bone and Tobias was enjoyable, the pair showed more character than Aiden did in the main story. Tobias in my opinion had the most character growth as he goes from paranoid druggie into an individual looking to move foreword with his life.
Watch Dogs: Bad Blood is an enjoyable experience for those who absolutely loved the main game. While the DLC is ten missions spread over four chapters, the campaign missions feel too easy and can be completed rather quickly. If you’re a owner of Watch Dogs season pass you can download Bad Blood for free since it was included when buying season pass. For those with out season pass the DLC will cost $15. I recommend Watch Dogs: Bad Blood to those who want to experience more of the Watch Dogs world.
THE VERDICT
Watch Dogs : Bad Blood is a enjoyable experience but ends to quickly.
