What we know about the LG G3 so far

by GH Staff

There’s little doubt in anyone’s mind that LG struck gold with the LG G2 last year. The phone is still selling like hot potatoes, and for good reasons. It’s affordable, blazing fast and looks rather good. What more could you want? Well, an even better successor of course! Luckily, LG has confirmed that it’s launching the LG G3 this year, and here’s what we know about it so far:

Based on what we’ve seen, we’re getting a far better phone this year, and that’s a great achievement considering how well built last year’s LG G2 proved to be. Recent leaks would suggest that the LG G3 will come with a 5.5 inch QHD display running at a whooping 2560×1440 pixel resolution. Retina Display? Scratch that. How does around 534 PPI sound? If these rumors are true (and considering the source, we have every reason to believe they are), the LG G3 might just bring the best display on the market for smartphones, at least until Samsung launches its Galaxy Note 4.

Additionally, the LG G3 will most likely feature an octa-core Odin processor split into four Cortex-A15 cores and four Cortex-A17 cores. Lastly, a 4 GB of RAM, microSD support and multiple feature upgrades are planned for the LG G3. Combine that with a 16 MP camera that’s rumored to be really good (although probably not as good as the one found on the Sony Xperia Z2), and we have a recipe for success. LG has come a long way the past years, and it’s really starting to make an impact on the market. If the LG G3 manages to pull off a reasonable price (it’s estimated to cost somewhere around $750-800 at most), which is probably will, it’s probably going to become one of the best phones on the market this year. The LG G3 is set for a May release, but nothing official has been confirmed yet. Stay tuned for more updates on the highly anticipated phone!
