Skyrim has been released on everything from PlayStation to Amazon Alexa at this point, but this one is genuinely new. Modder RPGKING has ported the game into Fallout 4 — specifically onto the Pip-Boy, the wrist-mounted device your character uses in-game to manage inventory and listen to radio.
The result is exactly what it sounds like: you’re wandering the post-apocalyptic wasteland of 2287, and if you fancy a change of pace, you flip open your Pip-Boy and boot up Skyrim.
The mod video on YouTube shows the opening sequence running in full — the cart ride, the execution block, the dragon, Ralof’s famous “hey, you’re finally awake” line. It’s choppy, and RPGKING admits as much in the description. Tabbing in and out of the Pip-Boy causes lag, and Lydia being Lydia doesn’t help matters. He says fixes are coming in future updates.
It’s also not the first time he’s pulled this off. Earlier this month, the same modder got Morrowind running inside Fallout 4 through the same method — so this is becoming something of a specialty.
Whether or not you’d actually want to play Skyrim this way is a separate question from whether the execution is impressive. It is. Bethesda’s two biggest franchises have always shared DNA — the engine, the studio, the fanbase — and watching them literally nest inside each other is a strange kind of tribute to how long both games have held on.
Given that Forza Horizon 6 just leaked on Steam before its own official launch, Skyrim running inside a Pip-Boy in 2026 somehow feels like the more controlled release.
