Titanfall will have a Season Pass, despite rumors

Season pass, Titanfall. Titanfall Digital Deluxe Edition

Though it was originally presumed that Titanfall would not employ the Season Pass based system of receiving discounts on DLC by making a one-time purchase, this is apparently not the case, as Vince Zampella of Respawn Entertainment revealed today on Gamespot’s “The Lobby” livestream.

On stream, Zampella stated, “…we’re going to do a season pass – if you buy it up front you get a better price”. Zampella also used this time to reassure gamers that no micro transactions will be present in the game.

Though there is no official announcement of the Season Pass, its pricing, or the number of DLC’s to be included in the Pass at this time, details are sure to follow soon with the game’s release next week.

What do you think of this development for Titanfall, is the Season Pass format now here to stay? Do you feel that the savings included in typical Season Passes justify spending roughly $25 USD, on average, upfront, or do you feel this is a way for developers to package less “meaty” offerings such as skins and outfits into a Pass and market them as more than they are?

Feel free to let us know how you feel in the comments below.

Titanfall releases one week from today on March 11th in North America, and March 13th in Europe.
