Marvel Rivals Season 10 will launch on September 11 (UTC) with Gorr the God Butcher as its only new playable hero. The one-character lineup breaks the game’s recent two-hero rhythm, but NetEase says the reduction is temporary rather than a permanent seasonal rule.
The game’s official Dev Vision Vol. 21 confirms the launch date and says Season 10 will also bring a new map, new events, a costume series, and a broad balance update. NetEase’s presentation gives the season a wider focus than the hero count alone suggests.

Gorr is the only new hero in Marvel Rivals Season 10
In the developer presentation, creative designer Guangyun Chen says the team is “locking our crosshairs on just Gorr the God Butcher.” He adds that the first half of the season will introduce one hero and one map.
That makes Gorr the sole character addition after eight consecutive seasons with two heroes, a run that lasted 17 months. The count and Chen’s comments were transcribed in PC Gamer’s report on the developer diary.
NetEase has not identified a second Season 10 hero. It has also not disclosed the new map’s name in the material reviewed for this report, so those details remain outside the confirmed information.
The two-hero format is expected back in Season 11
Chen directly addressed concern that one new character could become the standard. “We want to reassure the community that a single-hero season isn’t the new normal,” he said. The studio has already selected the two heroes planned for Season 11, although their identities have not been announced.
The second half of Season 10 will instead move into phases 3 and 4 of the Path to Doomsday event. Chen says those phases will feature two new game modes, with specific details due closer to the start of Season 10.5.
That schedule divides the season into two distinct content beats. Gorr and the map lead the opening half, while the later update expands the event and its modes. NetEase’s official page also lists new events and a new costume series among the season’s additions.
Balance changes will affect about 70% of the roster
Lead combat director Zhiyong says the Season 10 adjustments involve about 70% of the existing roster. The developer presentation does not turn that figure into a complete hero-by-hero list, so the scale of the update is confirmed even though every individual buff or nerf is not yet detailed here.
Competitive play is also getting a revised ban order for matches at Gold 3 and above. The first team bans one hero, the second team bans two, the first team then bans two more, and the second team makes the final ban. That sequence creates six distinct bans.
Each banned character becomes unavailable to both teams, preventing the other side from selecting the same hero again. Zhiyong said the goal is to add more strategic depth to the banning phase by revealing decisions in stages.
Season 10 therefore changes more than the rate of hero releases. Its September 11 launch combines Gorr, a new map, event phases, two later modes, roster-wide balance work, and a revised competitive draft. The confirmed return to two selected heroes for Season 11 also frames Gorr’s solo debut as a one-season exception.
