Roblox says creators will soon be able to offer their games as standalone apps across mobile, PC, and consoles. The option is called Roblox Everywhere, and Roblox’s RDC 2026 announcement says the company will continue to power the technology and services underneath those apps.
The company did not give Roblox Everywhere an exact launch date beyond “soon.” Its post describes standalone distribution as a future option for creators, not a tool that is already available. It also does not identify individual storefronts. The confirmed scope is therefore the device categories Roblox named: mobile, PC, and consoles.
Browser and offline play have separate timelines
Roblox also outlined a browser route that is distinct from the standalone-app plan. By the end of 2026, it plans to let players join a game in Chrome from that game’s Experience Details Page, without installing an app. The company says support for more browsers will follow, but it did not give a schedule for those additions.
The planned web player is intended to open games from links shared through places such as search results, YouTube, X, email, and creators’ social channels. The Experience Details Page will provide the handoff into the browser session. Roblox has committed only to Chrome for the initial year-end target in its announcement.
Offline play is further out. Roblox says creators will be able to enable offline solo play alongside a live multiplayer mode, with availability scheduled by mid-2027. Early access is due “soon,” although the company did not attach a date to that phase. The wording limits the announced offline feature to solo play rather than promising offline multiplayer.
Roblox is adding tools for 2D and turn-based games
Alongside the distribution changes, Roblox announced engine additions intended to broaden the kinds of games creators can make. Its new 2D-oriented capabilities include an orthographic camera, animated image containers, and direct sprite-sheet import. Roblox also listed blur, text shadows, and improved gradients among upcoming user-interface features. The post does not state when these 2D additions will ship.
The company framed those tools around 2D and puzzle games, in contrast with the 3D multiplayer worlds for which it says Roblox has been best known. The announcement describes the tools as expansions to Roblox’s engine capabilities; it does not present them as a separate engine.
Turn-based games are receiving a separate systems update. Roblox says it is expanding support for turn-based, asynchronous multiplayer games and adding notifications that alert players when it is their turn. The notification system is scheduled to enter Studio Beta in October, followed by a full release by the end of the year.
