Hela: Of Mice & Magic will come to Xbox Game Pass on day one when it launches on December 1, 2026. The 3D co-op adventure arrives on Xbox Series X|S and Game Pass on that date, published by Knights Peak. In the game, players are tiny mouse familiars helping a kind-hearted witch care for the world around her. The setting draws from landscapes inspired by Northern Sweden, including forests, meadows, and wetlands. It joins a slate of cozy animal co-op adventures.

Brewing and Remedies Drive Progression

The core progression system is Brewing & Remedies. Players collect native plants and other magical ingredients, which return to the witch’s cottage where brewing begins. Brewing is an interactive process in which each recipe follows its own set of instructions, combines different ingredients with hands-on actions, and asks for a specific sequence of steps, so no two recipes play exactly the same. Some brews help woodland creatures and communities, while others improve the player’s abilities. The most important creations are magical tools called Remedies.

Exploration Built on Curiosity

Gathering ingredients while exploring feeds directly into the brewing system, so wandering off the path has a payoff back at the witch’s cottage. Players will spend time spotting unusual flowers, following streams, and figuring out whether a strange plant has a use, and every plant they bring home can unlock something new.

How Remedies Open New Possibilities

Remedies expand how players move through the environment, solve puzzles, overcome obstacles, and interact with each other. As the collection grows, familiar places reveal new possibilities, and previously unreachable paths or impossible puzzles become approachable. Remedies are designed to encourage players to look at familiar places in new ways.

Co-op Play and the Shade System

In co-op, Remedies become more playful, encouraging experimentation as players combine tools and approaches. Every puzzle can be completed solo, but cooperative play leads to unexpected solutions. Players can play solo, with a friend in local split-screen, or with up to four players in online co-op. The Shade System lets solo players create magical copies of themselves to help solve puzzles and interact with the world. Hela is one of several cooperative games arriving on Xbox Game Pass in December.
