Colorbound, a puzzle-platformer from Chilean indie studio Panpipe Studio and publisher Whitethorn Games, launches today on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 1 and 2. The publisher describes it as a palette-platformer. It is available now on Steam, Epic Games Store, and Humble for PC, priced at $14.99 and rated E for Everyone. The Xbox Series X|S version is out now, joining the likes of Beastro, another indie game that landed on Xbox.

Anku’s search for his grandfather’s band

In Colorbound, players control Anku, a boy who lives in the mountains of Chile with his grandmother. His grandfather, Eloy, has passed away, and the two remember the color Eloy brought to their lives through his music. Eloy was a beloved musician whose band has long since scattered, so Anku sets off to find the missing musicians and reunite them for one final tribute performance in the grandfather’s memory.

Color as the core puzzle mechanic

The game uses color as a central progression tool. Players collect colors onto a palette and apply them to solve logic and light platforming puzzles, shaping the environment to open new paths. Not all colors behave the same way. Lighter colors allow objects to float away once painted, while heavier colors may drop down. Anku’s journey begins with the panpipe, also known as la zampona, a well-known instrument in Andean folk music.

Aymara culture and a watercolor world

Colorbound draws inspiration from the Aymara culture of the Andes, blending traditional music and art styles with the puzzle-platformer experience. Its pastel palette, inspired by watercolor, is meant to create a cozy sense of nostalgia. The project began as a concept created for the Latin American Games Showcase Game Jam in 2025, built around the theme ‘What the eyes don’t see, the heart doesn’t feel.’ A hint repeated in the game states, ‘If you can’t see it, it can’t affect you.’

Colorbound was developed by Isaias Arrue, a Chilean composer and solo developer who founded Panpipe Studio in 2025. Players looking for more new indie games on the platform can also check Xbox’s October 2026 Indie Selects lineup.
