Ved: Recure, an action-focused roguelite from developer and publisher SummerClip, launched on Steam for Windows on September 21, 2026. SummerClip announced the release in a Steam Community post titled “Ved: Recure is officially out!” after more than three years of development. The project began as a one-person effort, grew to a team of five, and expanded to nine people this year. The full release follows playtests that began in September 2024 and a demo released earlier this year.
Buff Chain combat and player skill
The core system is the Buff Chain. Players assign Buffs and Perks to specific triggers such as parries, dodge counters, and attack finishers. Abilities do not activate automatically. The player must perform the correct action to trigger them, so execution is central to any build. In the full release, Buffs cover mechanics including crowd control, healing, and damage. According to SummerClip, player skill is the bridge between the action and roguelite sides of the game. The roguelite elements act as a toolbox of options rather than automatic combinations. A player might use one Buff to control an enemy, another to deal damage, then trigger extra effects through a specific action. Fans of action-first roguelikes can compare it with Armatus, which blends scythe combat and firearms into its roguelike runs.
Difficulty options and the Training Ground
The launch version includes four difficulty levels: Easy, Normal, Hard, and Extreme. On Easy, enemies show a red warning indicator before attacking, giving a clear cue for incoming moves. Extreme is unlocked after clearing Hard. SummerClip originally planned a Very Hard difficulty with more enemy attack variations, but the team could not implement it for launch because of the development budget. A separate Training Ground lets players refight a Boss they cannot beat. There, players can learn the boss’s attacks and practice parries and dodges as many times as needed.
The path from playtests to release
Playtests started in September 2024, and a demo was released earlier this year. The developer is asking players to report bugs through the game’s Discord server. Other recent indie roguelike launches include Kernel Hearts on Xbox.
