Rage of Morditas Seasonal Mechanic
Eleventh Hour Games announced that Last Epoch Season 5, titled Rage of the Frostborn, launches October 1. The new seasonal mechanic, Rage of Morditas, centers on a demigod freed after rebelling against his father, Heorot. Players exploring Eterra can find Blood Crystals, indicated by the notice “Anger is building up in the air” and a blood ice shard on the mini-map. Touching a crystal invokes a rage-fueled shade of Morditas. Slaying enemies earns Bloodrage Charges used to power up and extract items from the Blood Crystal, with an on-screen rage bar tracking thresholds.
Phase one has players kill enemies while Morditas’ patience counts down. Revealed Bloodrage buffs include Revitalizing Rage, Freezing Rage, Coalescing Rage, and Reptilian Bloodrage. Phase two fuses Blood and Ice magic in both of Morditas’ hands, creating an arena surrounded by blood ice and a Gauntlet of Blood and Ice where defeated enemies revive. Spending Bloodrage Charges claims rewards from a Blood-Filled Crystal offering five possible rewards: four equipment slots plus one slot with keys, crafting materials, or resource bags. A Bloody Ritual or Frozen Ritual re-rolls rewards and affects quality, quantity, and types.
Morditas Boss, Pinnacle Encounter, and New Forging Potential
Completing Rage of Morditas encounters progresses an Echo unlock chain in three parts, ending in a fight with Morditas. An Anger gauge builds as monsters die, raising difficulty and rewards at higher anger, but players can appease Morditas to lower it. Defeating Morditas grants Demigod’s Ascendance, a Woven Echo leading to the Pinnacle boss God of Bloodshed, a harder Morditas that requires 400 Corruption to place in the Echo Web and does not scale with Corruption. Reward items can roll Ice Forging Potential, which has a chance to be preserved when crafting, and Blood Forging Potential, which raises critical success chance. Two new variant Unique Items are exclusive to Rage of Morditas rewards.
Season Launch, First Blood Race, and Supporter Packs
Hype Week includes daily dev blogs leading to Patch Notes on Friday and a Season 5 Overview Video featuring patch highlights from Mike Weicker, the studio’s game director. The First Blood race starts October 1 at 11 AM CDT and runs two weeks. The first player to defeat the God of Bloodshed in each of five classes, Acolyte, Mage, Primalist, Rogue, and Sentinel, on Normal and Hardcore solo wins an Enraged Legend Supporter Pack, with ten packs total. Everyone who logs in during the first two weeks earns the “Blood Seeker” title. Season 5 Supporter Packs launch October 1 and are revealed September 27. Twitch Drop rewards are revealed September 29. The Beneath Ancient Skies Supporter Packs leave the store October 19.
