Dark Souls 2 is launching later this week (on the 14th, Friday, more specifically), and to accompany the game’s launch, Namco Bandai has graced us with a new launch trailer for the game. Surprisingly, this particular trailer is a CGI one, which is somewhat uncommon when it comes to launch trailers. On the bright-side, the trailer does a great job at setting the mood and tone of the game, emphasizing the theme of darkness and avoiding spoiling anything at all.
Dark Souls 2 is a highly anticipated sequel to a brutally difficult Dark Souls, and players have high expectations from this installment in the franchise. Based on the preliminary reviews of some press outlets, all fears can be safely laid aside, as the game seems to be extremely well built and remains true to its core elements. Unfortunately, the release is limited to consoles for now, but PC gamers will be getting their own version of Dark Souls 2 on the 25th of April. With only a little over a month left until then, the wait is tolerable, just make sure to avoid any spoilers on the internet – a hard task to pull off, for sure.
Dark Souls 2 will keep to its predecessors design for the most part, but will be improving greatly in terms of visual effects, graphical fidelity, user interface functionality and general quality of life aspects. These changes won’t interfere greatly with the challenging nature of the game, and, as you’d expect from a Dark Souls game, you will still be dying quite a lot. The game still retains its original mature and gritty atmosphere, despite a more tolerant ESRB rating. Dark Souls 2 no longer received an M rating (as opposed to its predecessor), receiving a 16+ rating instead, but this does not mean the game is cheery it all, it simply means there will be less nudity involved. Take a look at the trailer and get yourself into a state of zen – you’ll be needing it soon enough!
