The brand new 2.0 update for Early Access title Godus, from developer 22Cans, promises to bring in a whole low of new features and change up some old ones, unfortunately your original save game has been sent to the trash for good. Peter Molyneux is confident this is a revised edition of the latest god game to hit the gaming world. The Godus 2.0 update notes on Steam reads:

“To enable us to deliver this new version it means that previous saves are no longer compatible. We do apologise for this inconvenience but we know it was the best decision for the overall game.”

The last Godus update was back in October of 2013, it’s been some time since we last saw some changes to the god game. 22Cans has been working on this recent update for the past four months, according to the developer. Molyneus said, “This is the honest answer: we collated all your feedback and we realised we needed to make these vast changes to the game.”

“We needed to make it because of the feedback we got from you that it was a click-fest,” added Molyneux, “that you didn’t really know what you were doing, or why you were doing it, there wasn’t enough variation in gameplay, not many people were playing the story, not many people were playing multiplayer games. So we went back to the drawing board on the foundation stones of our features. And the reason we did that is because we really, truly want to make a great game.”

The Godus 2.0 update features a brand new interface, allowing for far less clicking than present beforehand. 22Cans said this mechanic allows for holding and dragging to interact with the world, instead of clicking on every little object.

The update also adds in a new redesigned cards system, a new GUI, and a brand new game mode called Voyages of Discovery.

Godus, the latest god game, is shaping up quite nicely. Check it out on Steam Early Access today.
