Something wicked has landed in Overwatch 2. Blizzard launched Season 5, titled A Grim Doctrine, in-game on October 6 at 11 a.m. PT.

The season is the final chapter of the Reign of Talon story arc. It adds a new support hero, a new Escort map, hero reworks for Sombra and Roadhog, a Halloween event, and a fresh lineup of cosmetics to the free-to-play hero shooter.

Doctrine, the New Support Hero

Doctrine joins the roster as the season’s new support hero. Doomfist freed the sinister villain from his volcanic prison, and Doctrine can now manipulate life using his Eternal Scepter and mechanical drones.

His signature Infuse mechanic boosts each of his abilities.

Doctrine and Watchpoint: Grímsvötn were revealed at BlizzCon 2026, when Blizzard first outlined the hero’s kit and the new map, and both are now playable in Season 5.

Watchpoint: Grímsvötn

Watchpoint: Grímsvötn is the new Escort map, set in the Icelandic prison that once held both Doctrine and Doomfist. It is the first new Escort map since Overwatch 2 launched, and players break into the facility and battle through fire and ice.

Mystery Madness: Graveyard Games

The Halloween mayhem continues with Mystery Madness: Graveyard Games. Players start as a random Hero and unlock random new powers each time they die.

Completing the event’s chilling challenges earns Offerings, which help summon the next Hero into the mode.

Battle Pass, Cosmetics, and Hero Reworks

Haunting new cosmetics arrive through the Season 5 Ultimate Battle Pass, a Starter Pack, and the Shop. The lineup includes the Dokiwatch 2.0 crossover, a new Mythic skin for Wuyang, and a Mythic weapon skin for Lúcio.

Sombra is hacking her way into the Support role, while Roadhog gets a revamped Scrap Gun and an all-new Trash Compactor ability. Players familiar with either hero will notice the changes right away. Drives are coming to Quick Play, and Unvaulted Battle Passes return as part of the season.
