Valve has added Nurse Harrow to Deadlock, completing the six-hero rollout attached to the City Never Sleeps update. The character arrived on October 20 with four named abilities built around draining enemies, strengthening allies, restoring health, and forcing opponents to retreat.

The release is the final step in a rollout that began on September 29. Valve’s official City Never Sleeps page describes that wider update as a package containing six heroes, major visual changes to the map and neutral characters, HUD revisions, quality-of-life additions, and accessibility options. Nurse Harrow closes the three-week rollout.

Valve also published voting data from the event, including more than 110 million total votes and several figures that show how closely players followed the staged hero releases.

Nurse Harrow’s four abilities mix sustain and disruption

Valve’s official Steam announcement describes Nurse Harrow as a practitioner from Manhattan’s Marble Hill Possession Ward. The post presents her as an unsettling support-oriented hero whose medicine can help teammates while creating serious problems for enemies.

  • Leech Therapy: Nurse Harrow throws a jar of leeches that attach to enemies, drain health and energy, then crawl back with what they collected.
  • Wretched Vapors: She opens a vial that gives allied heroes a powerful effectiveness boost. Valve warns that the effect carries side effects after the vapors wear off, but it has not published numerical values.
  • Healing Needles: She loads a syringe and directly injects medicine into teammates to keep them fighting.
  • Lurking Terrors: Nurse Harrow releases the creatures inside her bag, causing enemies to run for cover.

Valve listed ability names and descriptions only, leaving cooldowns, damage, healing values, ranges, duration, and upgrade paths unspecified.

Valve does not assign Nurse Harrow a class label in the announcement. Healing Needles directly restores allies, Wretched Vapors enhances them, and Leech Therapy drains health and energy from enemies before returning its haul. Three parts of the kit interact with team endurance or resources, while Lurking Terrors supplies displacement and disruption.

Her kit asks teams to manage delayed consequences

Leech Therapy drains an enemy’s health and energy, and the leeches crawl back carrying what they collected. Wretched Vapors improves allies but promises a downside when the effect expires. Healing Needles requires direct intervention, while Lurking Terrors forces enemies out of position.

Wretched Vapors is the clearest sign that Nurse Harrow’s support value carries a cost. Valve promises a powerful effectiveness boost and explicitly warns of side effects after the vapors wear off. The trade-off could reward teams that coordinate around a short power window, but the announcement does not reveal the duration, the strength of the boost, or the later penalty.

Deadman Danny arrived with a rocket launcher and aerial mobility, while Violet uses ink-themed attacks. Nurse Harrow’s reveal places more emphasis on health, energy, ally enhancement, and forced movement.

City Never Sleeps ends after more than 110 million votes

Valve released the six additions one at a time through a player-voting event. The staged approach gave every winner a separate reveal and turned each result into a short community event.

Valve recorded more than 110 million votes across the event. The closest matchup was Baba against Solomon, decided by a difference of nearly 0.5%. Only 847 players voted in every round and selected the eventual winner each time. At the other extreme, 36,236 players participated in every round without choosing a single winner.

Nurse Harrow had a dedicated bloc of 22,194 players who voted only for her. One player submitted exactly 1,000 votes for the character. Valve also said Nurse Harrow voters consistently had a higher win rate than supporters of every other hero, though the announcement does not explain the calculation or provide a precise percentage.

The win-rate line is a correlation. Valve did not publish the calculation, sample definition, or underlying numbers, so the result cannot establish why Nurse Harrow supporters won more often.

More than 110 million votes do not equal 110 million individual players because participants could vote repeatedly, and Valve did not publish a unique-voter total.

Valve reported both the perfect and winless voter counts for the full event.

The six-hero rollout is complete, but balance details remain open

Nurse Harrow follows the City Never Sleeps sequence that included Rat King, Baba, Solomon, Deadman Danny, and Violet.

The announcement includes no separate patch notes, broader balance list, unlock requirement, or purchase requirement for Nurse Harrow. Deadlock remains an early-development build with limited access through invitations from existing playtesters, according to its Steam store listing.

Valve has also not announced a public release date for Deadlock. Steam still lists the release timing as “To be announced,” and the game remains playable through invitations to the test.
