Valve has added Nurse Harrow to Deadlock, the sixth and final hero in the City Never Sleeps rollout. She went live on October 20 with four abilities built around draining enemies, boosting allies, restoring health, and forcing opponents out of position, according to the official Steam announcement.
The reveal closes a six-hero sequence that began with the City Never Sleeps update in late September. Valve also published voting data from the event, including a total above 110 million votes and several figures that show how closely players followed each staged release.
Nurse Harrow’s four abilities mix sustain and disruption
Valve describes Nurse Harrow as a practitioner at Manhattan’s Marble Hill Possession Ward. Her kit uses a syringe, a bag of creatures, and a jar of leeches:
- Leech Therapy: throws a jar of leeches that attach to enemies, drain health and energy, then crawl back carrying what they collected.
- Wretched Vapors: opens a vial that gives allied heroes a strong effectiveness boost, with side effects once the vapors wear off.
- Healing Needles: loads a syringe and injects medicine directly into teammates.
- Lurking Terrors: releases the creatures inside her bag so enemies run for cover.
Valve listed ability names and descriptions only, leaving cooldowns, damage, healing values, ranges, duration, and upgrade paths unpublished.
Her kit commits before it pays off
Each ability delays its payoff. Leech Therapy returns health and energy only after the leeches crawl back, and Wretched Vapors puts the downside at the end of the effect. Healing Needles and Lurking Terrors both demand she stay close enough to a target to act. The trade-off stays unverified until players get time with her.
The kit also fills a gap in the recent roster. Violet arrived with ink-themed attacks, and Deadman Danny brought a rocket launcher and aerial mobility. Nurse Harrow is the first of the six whose kit covers health, energy, ally enhancement, and forced movement.
City Never Sleeps ends after more than 110 million votes
Valve rolled the six heroes out one at a time through a player-voting event, giving each winner a separate reveal. Across the event Valve recorded more than 110 million votes. The closest matchup was Baba against Solomon, decided by a gap of nearly 0.5%. Only 847 players voted in every round and picked the eventual winner each time, while 36,236 players voted in every round and never chose a single winner.
Nurse Harrow carried a dedicated bloc: 22,194 players voted only for her, and one player submitted exactly 1,000 votes for the character. Valve said Nurse Harrow voters consistently posted the highest win rate of any hero’s supporters, though the announcement does not explain the calculation or give a precise figure.
The 110 million figure counts ballots. Participants could vote repeatedly, and Valve published no unique-voter number, so it cannot be read as 110 million individual players.
The rollout is complete, but balance details stay open
Nurse Harrow follows Rat King, Baba, Solomon, Deadman Danny, and Violet as the last of the six. The announcement includes no separate patch notes, broader balance list, or unlock requirement for her, and Deadlock remains an early-development build reached through invitations from existing playtesters, according to its Steam store listing.
