8BitDo has opened orders for two Tomb Raider 30th Anniversary controllers, both shipping October 24 according to 8BitDo’s announcement. The lineup includes the $119.99 Ultimate 3 Controller for Xbox and the $79.99 Pro 3 Bluetooth Gamepad. Both are official Tomb Raider collaborations sold through 8BitDo’s official e-shop and Amazon, and both arrive 30 years after Lara Croft’s 1996 debut.
The Ultimate 3 for Xbox carries the “Thirty Years of Adventure” design, which 8BitDo calls “No Lara Left Behind,” a walk through Lara Croft’s 1996 through 2000 run, The Angel of Darkness, the Legend era, and the Survivor era. The Pro 3 uses a “Back to the Lost Valley” theme drawn from the original game’s jungle level, with ancient ruins and rushing waterfalls. 8BitDo names Lost Valley one of the most memorable places from Lara Croft’s earliest adventures, and the Pro 3 re-creates its atmosphere in a tribute to the original game.
The $119.99 Ultimate 3 for Xbox
The Ultimate 3 for Xbox is officially licensed by Xbox and lists TMR joysticks with adjustable tension, Hall-effect triggers with two trigger stop levels, a 1000Hz polling rate on PC, and an integrated wireless charging dock. 8BitDo calls the stick setup a Dual Force Ring, pairing the adjustable-tension TMR joystick with a soft-stop silicone ring, a 12-bit ADC sampling chip, and a 216MHz processor for faster response. The two trigger stops adapt the pad to shooters, racing, and action games, and the 1000Hz polling rate targets competitive latency. The D-pad is zinc alloy with gold-colored plating, the R4 and L4 bumpers remap without software, and 6-axis motion control works over 2.4G on PC. The magnetic charging dock aligns the pad and reconnects it the moment it is lifted. The box adds a 2.4G adapter, two joycaps, and a USB cable.
Two Tiers, Two Platforms
The Ultimate 3 covers Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows 10 and above, and Android 13.0 and above, connecting over 2.4G wireless or wired USB on console and PC plus Bluetooth on Apple and Android. The $79.99 Pro 3 is a Bluetooth gamepad, and 8BitDo’s landing page does not publish a full compatibility list for it beyond that label, so its platform support cannot be checked from the page. The Pro 3 lists no extra hardware beyond Bluetooth, so its sale rides on the Lost Valley design, the same approach as the Lisa limited-edition controller. Orders run through shop.8bitdo.com and Amazon, with the e-shop page marking October 24 as the shipping date.
Selling a 30-Year Timeline
8BitDo is selling the 30-year history alongside the hardware. The design reaches back to chapters like Angel of Darkness and the Legend era, and 8BitDo credits the original Lara Croft with setting the tone for modern 3D action-adventure games. In its own era rundown, the Angel of Darkness years brought a more troubled Lara, the Legend era a confident one, and the Survivor era her origins. The next mainline game, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, is scheduled for February 2027, so these pads land months ahead of a new release.
What 8BitDo Left Unspecified
The announcement leaves a few details open. 8BitDo does not list the Pro 3’s exact host platforms beyond calling it a Bluetooth gamepad, and does not say whether the Pro 3 uses Hall-effect or TMR sticks. Shipping regions beyond the named storefronts are also unspecified. The e-shop page carries one warning: shop.8bitdo.com is the only official 8BitDo store, and 8BitDo tells buyers to avoid fake stores.
