Call of Duty: Warzone will no longer be playable on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One when Season 1 arrives on November 6, Activision has confirmed. Players who move to a supported platform can carry over their progression by signing in with the same linked Activision account.

The cutoff comes as Warzone integrates with Modern Warfare 4 and expands to Nintendo Switch 2. Activision lists the Season 1 launch for midnight Eastern on November 6, which is 9 p.m. Pacific on November 5.

What PS4 and Xbox One players need to know

Activision states in its Warzone Season 1 overview that the game will no longer be playable on PS4 and Xbox One starting with the new season. Players on those consoles will need a supported device to continue playing Warzone after the change.

Progression can carry over when players sign in on a supported platform with the same linked Activision account, according to the announcement. Before changing devices, check which Activision account is linked to the console profile you currently use. The announcement does not describe every possible account-recovery situation, so players who cannot access their account should consult official support before making changes.

Season 1 also resets player level across Warzone, Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer and DMZ. That announced level reset is separate from Activision’s statement that progression carries over to a supported platform. Players should check the new season’s account and progression details rather than assume every individual stat will appear unchanged.

What carries forward, and what changes

Activision says Operators, skins, weapon blueprints and other cosmetic items from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 will be available in Warzone under the Season 1 Carry Forward rules. The publisher also lists calling cards, emblems, finishing moves, emotes, sprays, parachutes and contrails.

Older weapons remain available through a Legacy tab in the loadout menu, but they will work differently from Modern Warfare 4 weapons. Activision says Legacy weapons cannot be edited in Gunsmith and do not support features including Modern Warfare 4 mastery camos, reticle challenges, cosmetic Gunsmithing or build sharing.

Each Legacy base weapon will have a five-attachment version available. Existing Legacy blueprints retain their attachment setups, but Activision says the blueprints will initially be locked and unlockable with player XP in the Armory.

Switch 2 arrives alongside the new maps

Season 1 is also Warzone’s Nintendo Switch 2 launch. Activision says players on the system can drop into Hajin, Zodiac and the other available maps and playlists. The publisher’s overview does not provide a performance comparison between Switch 2 and other platforms.

Hajin is the new large-scale battle royale map, while Zodiac is a smaller Resurgence map built around a drone manufacturing facility. Verdansk and Rebirth Island are scheduled to return later in the season, rather than being identified as day-one additions in the overview. The broader Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 roadmap covers the multiplayer and DMZ additions.

Hajin’s battle royale version has differences from its DMZ counterpart. Activision lists changes to the moving gas, available vehicles and distribution of loot and interactive objects. Players familiar with the extraction map should not assume every route or resource location will behave the same way in battle royale.

Two new field upgrades add movement and recovery options. The Zipline Launcher creates a route that can also be used by enemy operators, while the Grabber Drone can pick up loot, objects or a downed teammate. Its battery is limited, so squads will need to choose when to use it.

The announcement also lists a Warzone operator skin toggle, new equipment and a revised perk selection. Activision says further gameplay details will appear in the Season 1 patch notes.
