Activision has confirmed that starting with Season 1 of Modern Warfare 4, Warzone is adding a new Operator Skin toggle, and the filter is OFF by default. The all-new option gives players more control over how Warzone looks and feels as the Modern Warfare 4 chapter begins. For years Warzone has combined Operators, weapons, and experiences from recent Call of Duty titles into one shared experience. Activision says some players enjoy that variety, while others prefer Warzone to feel more aligned with the latest release, the upcoming Modern Warfare 4.
How the Operator Skin Toggle Works
The Operator Skin toggle is an all-new filter built specifically for the Modern Warfare 4 chapter of Warzone. When toggled ON, the filter shows a Modern Warfare 4 Operator in place of any Operator or Operator Skin from another Call of Duty title equipped by another player. This applies to enemies, party members, and squadmates, both in the lobby and during a match. A player’s own equipped Operator does not change, so they keep seeing the Operator they selected even if it is from another title such as Black Ops 6. Activision states the toggle only impacts the player’s own game and does not affect other players. Because the setting is OFF by default, the traditional shared Warzone experience remains available for players who prefer it.
Carry Forward and Legacy Weapon Access
Operators and Weapons from Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, Black Ops 6, and Black Ops 7 remain available in Warzone starting with Season 1. This includes Skins, Blueprints, and Camos the player has earned or purchased. Existing Carry Forward plans for previous titles are not affected. All weapons from Modern Warfare II through Black Ops 7 stay accessible through the Legacy tab in the Loadout menu. Gunsmith functionality and prior Custom Loadouts will not be supported for legacy weapons or legacy Blueprints. Instead, a five-attachment version of each legacy base weapon is available, plus any Blueprint for a legacy weapon with its existing attachment setup.
A Rooted Meta and Biweekly Balancing
The goal is for the weapon meta to feel distinctly rooted in Modern Warfare 4 while preserving access to nostalgic choices. Activision notes Raven Software will continue balancing weapons on a biweekly basis to keep the Modern Warfare 4 weapon lineup fluid throughout each season.
