FC Barcelona has named its 2027 Valorant roster, and the club will have to fight through the open circuit to reach VCT EMEA. Barça eSports announced the five-player lineup and its coaching staff on the club’s official website, keeping head coach Juan Carlos “meisoN” Chacón and team captain Adolfo “Fit1nho” Gallego while adding four new players. The full lineup is listed in Barcelona’s official announcement.

Barcelona will have to win the Open Qualifier to qualify for VCT EMEA, the top tier of Valorant competition across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. That qualifier kicks off on Thursday, November 5, and the run will be broadcast on FC Barcelona’s official Twitch channel and by the club’s new co-streamers, Goked and Ntwillow. The club also confirmed it will field a Game Changers roster for 2027, with that lineup to be announced later. The club did not specify how many matches the Open Qualifier spans or which teams Barcelona could face, only that the side must win it to reach VCT EMEA.

Continuity at the top, four new faces

Barcelona keeps its coaching spine intact. Chacón, a two-time Rising Spain champion with the club, returns for a fourth year, and assistant coach Víctor “xikii” García, who won Rising Spain 2026 with Barça, returns for a third. Gallego returns as in-game leader and captain for a third year after bringing VCT and Champions experience to the side. Barcelona kept only one player from its previous lineup, so four of the five starters are new to the club.

The four additions reshape the player core. Semyon “purp0” Borchev joins as a European runner-up, and Yusuf Emre “Proxh” Tunc arrives as an EMEA Challengers champion with previous VCT experience. Ondřej “MONSTEERR” Petrů comes in after competing in VCT in both 2025 and 2026, while Mohammad “Pa1ze” Khatib signs as one of the top players in Tier 2, with a VCT Play-In run behind him. Three of the four have competed at VCT or EMEA Challengers level before, so the new lineup brings competitive experience even though none of the players have competed together.

Why Barcelona is on the open-qualifier route

Riot Games rebuilt the Valorant Champions Tour around a set of partnered organizations for 2027, handing out 32 partner-team slots in October. Barcelona’s statement that it “will have to win the Open Qualifier” puts the club outside that partner group, so the club must earn its VCT EMEA place through the open circuit.

A partner slot guarantees a place in the VCT calendar from the opening event. The open route guarantees nothing until a team wins through, so Barcelona opens 2027 with a must-win bracket and faces elimination pressure in the early rounds that partner teams avoid. Barcelona’s Valorant division now earns its place on results alone, with no protected status and no fallback if the bracket goes wrong.

A rebuilt core with almost no ramp-up

The Open Qualifier starts November 5, leaving the newly announced lineup almost no time to gel before its first competitive match. The coaching staff and three of the five players have little shared competitive history as a unit, so the new-look team will be learning its coordination live, under elimination pressure. Five players who have never competed together have to build callouts, default plays, and mid-round reads on the fly, which is a real burden for a squad without an established system.

The recruitment mixes proven EMEA talent with Tier-2 upside. Proxh and MONSTEERR have recent VCT experience, while purp0 and Pa1ze offer strong current form and a short top-level track record. Veteran leadership comes from the returning Spanish core, and the club takes calculated risks on players who still have to prove they can hold a VCT EMEA spot. If the gambles pay off, Barcelona gets young upside without paying for established stars; if not, the club misses VCT EMEA for another season.

Other organizations are rebuilding for 2027 as well. Sentinels opened its own 2027 roster by signing duelist OXY from Cloud9, and several former partner teams are reshaping their lineups after the 2026 season. Sentinels starts from a guaranteed partner slot, while Barcelona’s four new signings face their first competitive match on Thursday with no such cushion.
