The Pokemon video games have been essentially the pinnacle of what Pokemon is today. The trading cards did get Pokemon started. The anime really ramped Pokemon up substantially. But, it was the Pokemon video games that really got the world talking. Pokemon Red/Blue were the first generation Pokemon games and they were legendary. Then the second generation Pokemon games, Crystal/Silver/Gold, was an even greater sequel to Red/Blue. But both Red/Blue and Crystal/Silver/Gold got remakes. The FireRed/LeafGreen and the HeartGold/SoulSilver games were both remakes of Red/Blue and Crystal/Silver/Gold. Which both of them were fantastic, by the way. Which begs the question that needs answering: is the Pokemon Generation 3 remake a possibility?
At least in a sense of Nintendo considering it, there’s a chance. Will there be one? It is a highly regarded rumor that has been spreading around the internet for a little while now, stating that many Pokemon fans are looking forward to a Generation 3 remake for the 3DS. Or at least many fans are theorizing about it. There were remakes to the Red/Blue and Crystal/Silver/Gold. Many would expect that there would be a Generation 3 remake after the first two remakes having a complete success. In fact, a lot of people were expecting a reveal of a Generation 3 remake at Nintendo Direct in 2012. Instead, there was a reveal of the Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 games. It wasn’t a bad thing for Nintendo to do but, it did leave a lot of people disappointed. A lot of people wanted that remake because it was that the tenth anniversary of the R/S/E that year. Which were the Generation 3 games. Which a lot of people expected that Nintendo would create a remake in honor of the tenth anniversary. The Generation 3 games were fantastic. Introducing a new way of playing Pokemon at that time. Generation 3 deserves a remake after the success of Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby.
Now, everyone is expecting that there would be a Pokemon Generation 3 remake in the nearby future. Will there be? In my opinion, there should be. You can’t just have two remakes of two games and end it off there. It’s not fair and a little bit unorganized. For the success of Emerald, Sapphire, and Ruby, there should be a remake in their honor. Those three games deserved it. So, in a matter of speaking, yes. There should be a Generation 3 remake and it is a possibility. It is something that the Pokemon fandom wants. But as the years go by, the demand for a Generation 3 remake will get lower and lower. So, Nintendo better start working on it as quick as they can before the hype dies out as quickly as it has risen. Be patient and the greatness will come.
