Mass Effect 4 – Still in development, might be coming to next-gen consoles

by GH Staff

Well, what’s there to say, Bioware sure loves to tease when it comes down to their most highly anticipated franchises. As Mass Effect 3 celebrates two years from its original launch, Bioware Montreal and Edmonton head Aaryn Flynn once again teases about Mass Effect 4. Yes, Maff Effect 4 is in the works, and no, Bioware is not generous on details. It’s actually hard to pull any information about the game, as it’s scarce, to say the least. Still, we get bits and pieces every now and then, and a confirmation about Mass Effect 4 being developed is appreciated none the less.

Aaryn Flynn is right, time flies. But it can’t fly fast enough, as this year’s E3 is still months away, and that’s the first realistic date we could be actually seeing something solid related to Mass Effect 4. There’s no doubt Bioware understands the importance of doing the sequel to the initial Mass Effect trilogy right, but man, sometimes, all this teasing is painful. On the bright-side of things, recent developments would suggest Mass Effect 4 will be coming to next-gen consoles as well (which is somewhat expected of it, given that the most optimistic release date for the game is late 2015), and will most likely be running at 1080p and (hopefully) 60 FPS.

Frankly, Mass Effect 4 has some exceedingly high expectations to satisfy, so anything less than 60 FPS and 1080p would be severely frowned upon. It’s quite possible Bioware will be skipping an Xbox 360 and PS3 version altogether. While there’s nothing official yet, it’s great to see the possibility is at least being considered. Are you excited about Mass Effect 4?
