[dropcap size=dropcap]T[/dropcap]wo days ago, Warner Bros. and Armature Studio have published a 10-minute gameplay clip with footage taken from Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate, which arrived October 25th on PlayStation Vita and 3DS. At the same time, the studios have released Batman: Arkham Origins on consoles and PCs. The 10 minutes video called “Cell Blocks” is commented by Mark Pacini, the game director from Armature Studio.

The action takes place in an unknown level from the Blackgate Prison. Fortunately, we managed to take a first glimpse on the design and its details, the character control, the fights and the investigation skills of Batman.

We have learned about Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate for PS Vita and 3DS in April 2013. Since then, we found out that it is a 2.5D game in the Metroid genre and that the action takes place after the story from Batman: Arkham Origins ends. Blackgate is a prison located on an isolated island. A riot breaks out there and Batman comes to stop it.

Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate is a side-scrolling game featuring Batman as the main character. During his time in Blackgate, he will face many new enemies and he will make use of new gadgets and his detective skills while investigating the secrets of the prison.

Compared to other games from the series such as Arkham origins, Blackgate does not focus on skill growth and character development. The main focus is on finding new gadgets and upgrades through the prison.

Batman will explore and interact with other characters in a graphic environment that combines both 3D and 2D elements. The fight sequences are similar to the Arkham Origins games as Batman will use the Freeflow combat system. Some of his most important gadgets will be the Batarang, the Line Launcher and the Explosive Gel.

Blackgate is divided into several different sections. Each section is accessible once you figure out how to get out of the prison. You can always save the game but there is also a modern checkpoints system available. Like in other games from the series, Batman will have a detective mode.
