Following numerous leaks Ubisoft finally announced Assassin’s Creed Unity for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One earlier this week and now it’s been confirmed that the reveal trailer was made from in-game early alpha footage.
Addressing a fan’s question on Twitter, the Assassin’s Creed account commented:
.@JeromevanVynck1 In-game, but ALPHA… which means it's not final, we are still working on it.

Unity has been in development for more than three years and given its focus on PC and the new consoles could represent a huge leap forward for the series with ideas and gameplay mechanics being implemented which may not have been possible on PS3 or Xbox 360. As the publisher noted in the trailer “next-gen starts here” suggesting that we will see some serious innovation to the now seven year old franchise. Given that the developers are still working on the game, we should also expect the game to look even better than it did n the trailer when it releases later this year.
The older consoles, and presumably Wii U, won’t be left out in the cold however, Ubisoft is said to be developing Assassin’s Creed Comet for release on those platforms later this year. Assassin’s Creed Unity, which stars a new Assassin called Arno, is set during the French Revolution of 1789 and could also include the Reign of Terror and the Napoleonic Wars which occurred in the years that followed. Ubisoft has not yet revealed details of where Comet will be set or when.
