Built off of the Alien film franchise, Creative Assembly’s lead developer shed some insight on the survival-horror experience behind the upcoming release of Alien: Isolation for the PlayStation console. The insinuated stealth experience between the universe’s most feared predator and a rather vulnerable Amanda Ripley, the encompassing atmosphere of Alien: Isolation is particularly tense. Below is the official teaser trailer mixed with designer commentary that PlayStation released to the public in regards to the design and execution of Alien: Isolation from its former film debut.
Numerous fans will recall the alien predator they’re used to visualizing from Ridley Scott’s original concept of Alien, and for good reason: that was exactly what the team at The Creative Assembly are going for. Alistar Hope stated that the game itself is meant “to take the values of the original film but tell a new story, featuring a new underpowered and underprepared character facing overwhelming odds.” Testing the player’s wits against the alien is meant to amplify the sensation of anxiety within your encased surroundings. Furthermore, the creative director commented on the inspiration to constitute Alien: Isolation into an immersive virtual setting, “to us it felt like an amazing opportunity to make a definitive survival horror game based on the original survival horror.”

Alien: Isolation does a phenomenal job of instigating a sense of helplessness. Just the player trapped inside with the universe’s most horrific extraterrestrial.
You can read more of the interview over at PlayStation’s official blog, which delves into further detail with the characterization of Amanda Ripley and what to expect as we encroach on the impending release date. While there has been no ‘solid’ date given to the community, Alien: Isolation will also be made available to PC, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Thus, there’s no definite chance of an exclusive PlayStation platform release. Which is great news to all you multi-console gamers out there!
