Although Naughty Dog is currently working on Uncharted PS4, that hasn’t stopped game director Justin Richmond from leaving the developer. Richmond is known for his work in Uncharted 2 where he oversaw the multiplayer aspect and also served as game director for Uncharted 3. Sony has been struggling over the past few months with countless layoffs and various departures. Just earlier this month Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig left the studio as well. Naughty Dog has not made a comment about either departure as of yet.
Justin Richmond was quoted as saying “I love the company and the people and know that they will continue to create awesome games going forward. On a happier note, after careful consideration I have joined Riot Games. There is some really innovative stuff going on here that I can’t wait to be a part of”.
Could this be a sign that Uncharted on PS4 may not happen after all? With all the numerous layoffs lately one can’t help but wonder what is happening with Sony and their development teams. What are your thoughts on the situation? Do you think Naughty Dog will continue to thrive or will the loss of staff hurt their future titles? Let us know in the comments what you think.
