[dropcap size=dropcap]O[/dropcap]utlast: Whistleblower is the latest DLC available for Outlast these days. The events however take place at the Mount Massive Asylum before the original action. The news was confirmed by Red Barrels.
The story revolves around the character that sent Miles Upshur to the asylum in the first title of the series. Outlast Whistleblowers starts just a few minutes before the situation to become dramatic due to scientific experiments that were undertaken at the facility.
The action from Outlast takes us deep in the ColoradoMountains, where horrors are waiting for you in Mount Massive Asylum. The facility is an abandoned shelter for mentally ill persons, reopened in secret by the research and charity branch of the Murkoff Corporation. A tip that came from an internal source leads the independent journalist Miles Upshur at the asylum. His discoveries will lead us to a world of science, nature and religion. The only escape from this asylum is the macabre truth that dwells in the heart of Mount Massive. While Outlast Whistleblower will tell a prequel story, the DLC includes new maps and a unique chance to explore and take part at all the cruel experiments that led to the events narrated in the original game.
Except from the new maps and the additional characters to the Outlast universe, Outlast Whistleblower will give us new insights on the dark secrets and history of the Murkoff Corporation, and those who were responsible for the dark events that took place at the asylum. Minutes before the slaughter, the player arrives at the facility, having thus the opportunity to observe what happens. If one can survive this, one will be able to discover new maps, new environments and meet with new characters that were not available in the Outlast title. No specific release date has been revealed by the producers. Still, we are looking to find out more about Outlast Whistleblower in the following weeks.
