[dropcap size=dropcap]A[/dropcap]ware of their success with Dark Souls, (including the PC version), officials from Namco Bandai revealed almost a year before that their developers at From Software are working on a sequel which, unlike the first one, will be released simultaneously on Xbox 360 and PS3. Among all the new features and characters, we are expecting a new story, a new main hero and lots of new quests and challenges from Dark Souls 2. And it seems that according to the latest news, we won’t have such a long time to wait for it. It remains to be seen however whether the PC version will be mediocre or not like it was in the first chapter of this series.
Dark Souls 2 and the next gen consoles
In a recent interview with Eurogamer, the director of Dark Souls 2, Yui Tanimura said that the RPG game could reach the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the nearest future. “It was confirmed only for current consoles and PC” said Tanimura. However, he stated that he is more than interested in porting the game to the next gen consoles Xbox One and Playstation 4 and that a decision should be made soon. “I am very interested in the new generation of consoles and I will be more than happy to develop games for PS4 and Xbox One”, he added.
At this year’s Tokyo Game Show 2013, Namco Bandai announced the official release date for Dark Souls 2. According to the company officials, the game will be released on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 as of March 11 2014. The PC version has no official release date yet, as the developers have to work on some minor details and optimization issues before giving a precise date. “Our goal is to launch the PC version at the same time,” said Tanimura but it remains to be seen whether or not he will be successful.
