Going over today’s smart devices it’s always a good idea to compare it to another smart device. Today we go over the two smart devices to see which out performs who, going over the design, display, sound, camera and battery life. Released just over 9 months ago, the Nokia Lumia 625 is offered by most retailers at a lowered price, making the smartphone one of the cheapest on the mobile market today. However, could the device hold up against other smartphones in the same price range having in mind its specifications?
Design & Specifications
Being a part of the Lumia smartphone line, the design of the Nokia Lumia 625 is not surprising coming in various colorful casings. Larger than some of its predecessors, the smartphone is 5.25 x 2.85 x 0.36 inches in size and weights about 159 grams. Although, it is easy to grip and use with one hand, because of its weight it may be a bit hard on the hand after extensive use. Under its bright colors, the smartphone holds a quite powerful Dual-core 1.2GHz Krait processor backed up by an Adreno 305 GPU, Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset and 512 MB of RAM. Running on Windows Phone 8, upgradable to WP8 Black, the smartphone is able to run most of the games and applications you may find on the mobile market, but due to its specifications you won’t be able to enjoy the latest high-end games on the Nokia Lumia 625.
Display & Sound
Even though the device features a 4.7 inch display, the screen is a huge setback, because of its overall pixel density of only 199 ppi making everything seem blocky and pixelated, because of its 480 x 800 pixels resolution. However, if you are looking for a better sound experience, the Nokia Lumia 625 is able to provide you with loud, clear and robust sound and enhances your headphone music playback experience, because of its Dolby headphone sound enhancement feature.
Camera
Even though the camera may seem downgraded from its predecessors, compared to other devices in its price range, the camera on the Nokia Lumia 625 is pretty decent. Being 5 MP in size, the camera is able to capture photos in a decent quality, but the lack of HDR is a bit of a setback. However, it is able to record videos in 1080p and 30 FPS and there is a secondary camera, which even though VGA, makes video conferencing possible.
Battery Life
As the Nokia Lumia 625 has a poor screen and not so powerful processor, the Non-removable Li-Ion 2000 mAh battery makes the device withstand ver 15 hours of talk time in a 3G network, 90 hours of music playback and up to 552 hours in Stand-By mode.
Overall
The Nokia Lumia 625 offers pretty powerful hardware specifications, a decent camera and amazing battery life. However, a huge setback is the screen of the device, which doesn’t let you achieve the best multimedia experience. Compared to other devices in its price range, the smartphone is decent and definitely worth its price tag.

The Samsung Galaxy Ace 3 has been available on the mobile market for over ten months and was marked as a price range smartphone at the time. Nowadays, as its price has substantially dropped, it is one of the cheapest smartphones on the mobile market. However, as its selling point is the optional dual-Sim, could the device actually compare with other smartphones at its price range, when it comes to specifications?
Design & Specifications
Samsung Galaxy Ace comes in a 121.2 x 62.7 x 9.8 mm size and weighs only 115 grams, which make it easy to grip and use with one hand. Under its casing the smartphone features a powerful Dual-Core 1GHz Cortex-A9 processor, that is backed up by 1GB of RAM, a Broadcom BCM21664 chipset and Broadcom VideoCore IV GPU. As the device runs Android OS v4.2 Jelly Bean you may rest assured that you will have an amazing variety of games and features available for download on the smart device as soon as it is in your hands.
Display & Sound
The TFT capacitive 4.0 inch touch screen on the Samsung Galaxy Ace is not as decent as the display featured on other devices in the same price range. However having an overall pixel density of about 233 gives it a decent resolution of 480×800 pixels. It sound is pretty clear and loud, but the device is best used with headphones.
Camera
Although the size of the camera featured on the Samsung Galaxy Ace is 5.0MP, the photo quality is not as good as offered by its competitors. Being able to record videos at 720p and 30FPS also is a bit of a setback. The device has a secondary VGA camera that makes video conferencing possible, but its quality is not impressive as well.
Battery Life
Another setback for the 3G version of the Samsung Galaxy Ace is its battery. Although the device’s display doesn’t require that much of a power source, the Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery provides you with only about 8 hours of talk time and about 370 hours of battery life in standby mode.
Overall
Compared with other devices in the same price range, the 3G version of the Samsung Galaxy Ace is not as impressive. Although it features amazing hardware power and a decent display, the quality of the camera works, but offers photos with lower quality than its competitors. However, even though its battery life is pretty short as well, the device stands out as one of the cheapest smartphones with a Dual-Core processor making it a decent choice for those who seek an affordable, but powerful smart device.
