For over a month now, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn has been in closed beta for Playstation 4. It is currently slated for a release date of April 14th here in the states. Before then, however, FFXIV is planning an open beta for Playstation 4 users.
FFXIV is planned to enter open beta on for Playstation 4 on April 4th at 1:00 a.m PDT and it will conclude at the same time on April 7th. Anyone who has signed up for the beta will be able to download the client and play, as long as they aquire the v1.62 update which will be needed to launch the game.
Open beta will be the first time that users will be able to access their live and pre-existing characters. If users already play FFXIV on PC, they will have full access to their characters during the Playstation 4 open beta. They will no longer have to worry about roaming around as a low-level character to try out the world of FFXIV on Playstation 4. Any progress made during the three day beta will also be carried over to the live servers. Square Enix has also made plans to open up three new servers. These servers will consist of Jenova (NA/EU), Zodiark (NA/EU), and Mana (JP).
Since the upcoming Playstation 4 release of FFXIV will more than likely bring in many new players, now is a good time for those who have taken a break from Eorzea to jump back in. There was also a recently released patch titled ‘Through the Maelstrom’ that brought in a dozen new quests, dungeons, bosses, equipment and more.
