Minecraft gets Twitch update

by GH Staff

Mojang, the developer of the sandbox indie game Minecraft, recently announced its tie-up with Twitch at MineCon in Orlando, Florida.

For those of you who don’t know, Twitch is an online game-streaming service, which enables players to broadcast their game-plays. After announcing their partnership with EA, Microsoft and Sony for Origin, Xbox one and PS4, recently, it was only a matter of time, that Mojang followed. Minecraft will join the league of games like Path of Exile, PlanetSide 2 and Trackmania 2.

This tie up is probably a match made in heaven as players can now share their creations and look at other players’ works! And they will be able to do all this without jumping any hoops. Oh! I mean going via any external software. They just have to make their own Twitch account and from within the game, they’re good to go!

Official date of arrival of this integration has not been announced; they only said it will arrive “soon”. This integration will make it possible for Windows and Mac users to broadcast “at the click of a button”.

Confirming the collaboration, Matthew DiPietro, VP of Twitch said, “Minecraft has struck a very powerful chord with the Twitch community.” “Its constantly escalating popularity illustrates that people love to watch video games outside of the headline grabbing eSports titles,” Mr DiPietro added.

This is a huge step forward for Mojang considering that they have sold about 13 million copies of the game for PC and is available on multiple platforms such as Windows PC, Mac, Xbox and handheld devices. This will possibly attract more gamers to buy and broadcast their works from Minecraft, which means more viewers on Twitch!

So basically this collaboration means people can share their beautiful creations and this might allow a new dimension to the way the game is played. When something like this happens, we at gamerheadlines usually say “I’m GAME!”
