Nintendo has announced a Nintendo Direct that is scheduled for Tuesday, April 8th. It will be focusing on the new Super Smash Bros. titles for 3DS and Wii U. For those who don’t know, Nintendo Direct is a broadcast that showcases Nintendo’s current and future line up of titles. The stream will take place on both Nintendo.com and Nintendo’s YouTube channel. Nintendo will be sure to drop lots of much awaited news about the crossover brawler when the Nintendo Direct kicks off at 3pm PT / 6pm ET/ 11pm GMT.

Here’s to hoping that we receive a release date as there has still been no word on one other than the game is coming in 2014. Recent announcements include the discovery from a few weeks ago that the Wii U and 3DS versions of the game will feature different trophies, showing that each version of the game will have plenty of exclusive content.  If you choose to pick up both you’ll be able to enjoy some variety from game exclusive levels such as the Nintendo 3DS exclusive Lumiose City based off of Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. Edge-guarding has also received a much needed change in mechanics.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U was announced at E3 2011 and remained quite until last year. The fighting game is being developed by Sora Ltd. and Bandi Namco Games. Game Director Masahiro Sakurai has been dropping little bits of news about the game daily on Smashbros.com such as; new characters, stages and items. This Nintendo Direct will be the first big news drop on the upcoming title since E3 2013.

What do you hope will be announced for the new Super Smash Bros.? Leave your thoughts in the comments!
