[dropcap size=dropcap]T[/dropcap]he mobile gaming platforms are evolving on a daily basis. Smartphones and tablets may be used nowadays as gaming devices or as mini handheld consoles by both, the fanatic gamers and the daily users. Yes, some of you will still feel the need of a bigger screen and a controller but things are about to change, at least in the controller section however. I know there are enough controllers available for Android powered devices or iPhones but there is a company that wishes to take the new gaming platform concept to a whole new level. They are the Ingeonix Corporation and their next gen mobile controller is called Ingeo.
In short, Ingeo means a docking station, a controller and an HDMI cable to connect the mobile phone to the TV Set, transforming it into a gaming device. You will not need anything else. Sure, the device is only a concept, and the producing company is currently looking for funding from fans in order to start the project. We expect however that the interest in Ingeo would be great, since once arrived at home, all the user has to do is to insert the phone in the dock and start the game.
The two main components of the Ingeo device were created by using a 3D printer. Ingeo creators chose this stealth looking design because it is considered as being comfortable in the hand of the user and easily to accommodate with the latest generation of smart TVs.
The developers from Ingeonix Corporation are confident that the dock can support any phone with Android. The HID controller will communicate with the phone via Bluetooth. There are already many mobile games available on the market, which feature controller support. Therefore, choosing a compatible game will not be a problem. Currently, the site lists 146 Ingeo compatible games.
Ingeo will also feature a dedicated application, a GameCenter for supported games. Ingeo users will also have the advantage of not having to change their devices when they are buying a new phone.
The Smartphone Controller
Until Ingeo will release their device, you can use other means to transform your Android mobile phone in a gaming device. Therefore, if you own a smartphone with Android operating system and you are passionate about console games, the Shintec Company had produced a “Smartphone Controller” that can be connected via Bluetooth to the mobile phone.
Once attached, the device will make your phone look like a gaming console similar to PSP (Play Station Portable). Shintec officially presented the device in action while playing games developed by Gameloft, saying that there is maximum compatibility with all their creations. Smartphone Controller is currently available in Japan at a price of around $ 98 but we hope to see it available in other regions as soon as possible.
