EA Sports has announced that EA Sports UFC will launch July 17th on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Alongside this announcement EA Sports also revealed that legendary martial artist and action film star Bruce Lee will appear as a playable character in the fighting title. If you pre-order the game you will be able to use Lee’s fists of fury as soon as you start playing. Otherwise he will be unlocked for anyone that completes career mode on pro difficulty. Lee will be usable in four different weight classes; flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight and lightweight.
Lee’s daughter Sharon Lee, who is also Chairperson of the Bruce Lee Foundation, said “I am so excited about this opportunity to bring my father back to video games. I’m thrilled that fans can now interact with him in a new way. The EA Sports UFC development team has been incredible to work with, and they’ve done a great job capturing the look and feel of my father. I think people will love getting a chance to fulfill a fight fantasy by playing Bruce Lee in the new UFC game.”
EA Sports UFC will mark the first release in the series under EA’s publishing and development. The company bought the rights to make UFC games after THQ sold their properties during bankruptcy a little more than a year ago. This title is planned to reboot the MMA series. Fighters already revealed for the game’s roster include Forrest Griffin, Costas Philippou and Chan Sung Jung to name a few.
