Bigwig publisher EA and Waystone Games have announced that the fast-paced MOBA Dawngate is now open for all players to take part in the title’s Community Beta, which can be interpreted as being its Open Beta. Starting on Tuesday, April 8, you will be able to download the game to your PC and participate in the beta by using your Origin account, or you can alternatively register for Dawngate by creating an Origin account.
Dawngate is touted to be a fast-paced MOBA that’s focused on team combat and a flexible Meta that allows for you to play your own way, with the freedom to choose whatever role you want that isn’t indicative of the your choice of character – or “Shaper” in the case of Dawngate.
There are two teams of five players in Dawngate, like that of League of Legends, Dota 2 or Heroes of the Storm. However, unlike those MOBAs, EA’s MOBA only has two lanes instead of the typical three, and features a huge jungle, too. Similar to Heroes of the Storm, Dawngate also features economy-based objectives, like Spirit Wells to create a new strategic landscape.
Each match is touted to end with an intense fight against both your enemy and their Guardian, and it gives players the chance to earn Blessings from their allies and foes. Blessings are loot drops that reward players based on how well they played, and commends them for their teamwork and sportsmanship.
“We wanted Dawngate to look and feel like a true MOBA experience, but add something fresh and new to the core design by offering a flexible Meta to gameplay,” said Dave Cerra, Dawngate’s Lead Producer. “We feel that giving players the freedom to tailor each Shaper’s role to their own personal play style makes a powerful impact in the overall experience and sets Dawngate apart.”
What’s more, Dawngate will be available for hands-on at the Penny Arcade Expo EAST event in Boston over the weekend, from April 11 until April 13. There will be opportunities to meet with the Waystone Games development team and to celebrate the official launch of Dawngate’s graphic novel, The Dawngate Chronicles, which will be releasing on April 11.
