The Nvidia SHIELD’s most recent major software update, among a fair number of other things, will allow you to remotely play your PC games on the handheld console outside of the house. Coined as Nvidia GameStream, you could have only streamed your games from your PC to your Nvidia SHIELD from the comfort of your home, as well as stream from a few select areas that supported the Nvidia Grid Streaming Beta. Now, with the handheld’s April update, any supported PC game will be able to be played on your Nvidia SHIELD via a network, be it during a lunch break or elsewhere with a stable internet connection.
If your worried about your PC being left on all day whilst your outside enjoying your Nvidia SHIELD, new GameStream enhancements will enable you to use Wake On LAN to remotely switch on your PC, and to enter it with your password by using the handheld’s on-screen keyboard. If you have a strong LTE connection, this new update will also allow you to connect your Nvidia SHIELD to your mobile’s personal hotspot and stream your games through it whilst on the go.
The Nvidia SHIELD was first launched back in July 2013, and the handheld utilizes a rental-quality screen and a Nvidia Tegra 4 processor, all within a console controller-shaped shell. With the release of its April update, you will now be able to play your entire library of PC and Android games on your handheld anywhere you’d like.
