There are a lot of things going on in this time of the year. The coming weekend will see PAX East unfold, and in just two months, we’ll be heading to the biggest annual gaming convention, E3. Later in the summer we’ll also be having Quakecon, so there are things to look forward to, and places for Bethesda to be making a proper announcement of Fallout 4. By now, people have little doubt that somewhere, in some nuclear shelter deep underneath the earth, Bethesda’s ‘survivor’ developers are hard at work developing the next masterpiece in the Fallout saga.
Bethesda will obviously be present at PAX East, and will have multiple games on display. The Evil Within will get some new gameplay footage and coverage, and lucky visitors will get to test Wolfenstein: The New Order at the company’s booth. There’s also bound to be some Elder Scrolls Online action going on, and probably more insight about ESO’s upcoming adventure and raid update. Last but certainly not least, we’ll likely be getting the official release date for Elder Scrolls Online’s PS4 and Xbox One versions, which are set for a release this June, but have not been set in stone just yet.
So where does that leave us with Fallout 4? Well, based on Bethesda’s schedule for the weekend and the line-up at their booth, it’s unlikely we’ll be seeing anything official at PAX East. Of course, there’s a chance (hope dies last) that they will have mercy on fans and drop the bomb (technically, they already dropped it a few times in previous Fallout games), but we wouldn’t get our hopes up too much.
If anything, Fallout 4 is too early in development to be showcased, and Bethesda is not known for showing footage or products that are far from being completed. Elder Scrolls Online was somewhat of an exception, but that MMORPG had been developed by Zenimax, and was still revealed quite late compared to other MMORPGs of such caliber. Despite all this, PAX East is taking place in Boston, the same Boston that’s rumored to be the next location open for exploration in Fallout 4, so anything can happen.
Will you be attending PAX East and visiting Bethesda’s booth? Hoping for a Fallout 4 announcement, or tired of waiting for the elusive official nod from Bethesda?
