As many may know, Microsoft and Activision reached a deal where Call of Duty’s DLC will be released first on Xbox platforms. This exclusivity happened first with Onslaught, in which the Xbox platforms got the content over a month before the other platforms; and this is also happening with Devastation. The Devastation DLC release date for Microsoft’s platforms was April 3rd; meanwhile, the Sony and PC platforms will not get the content until May 8th. With that said, the Call of Duty season pass, which includes all of Ghosts DLC, is only $50; but if the player wants to purchase each individually, he or she can for $15.
As many know the DLC content will contain four new maps, a new extinct mode campaign, and the two in one gun, the ripper. Devastation’s four multiplayer maps will include the South American map Behemoth, the New York based map Collision, the Predator exclusive Mayan Temple Ruins, and Unearthed, “which hearkens back to the Dome map from Modern Warfare 3, a controversial stage that many players are still trying to forget.”
Again, the Devastation DLC release date will be less than a month away, which is not that long of a wait for the other platforms. While I really liked the balance of the Onslaught DLC, the multiplayer maps still suffer from spawn kills. On top of that, the recent Devastation gameplay trailer had me ambivalent about the new maps: the Ripper gun, which is available to purchase independently on the Sony and PC platforms, is not as powerful as Onslaught’s Maverick. And the Predator gameplay seems like the Michael Myers point streak reward, an interesting ploy that gets duller with each use. But for now, I will wait and see the new DLC on May 8th, when it is released for the PS4, PS3, and PC. For all further updates, continue to read Gamer Headlines.
