Lords of the Fallen Attempts to Reach 1080p on Consoles, Will be “Tougher” to Achieve on Xbox One than PS4

PlayStation fans will rejoice at the optimization that’ll be coming to Lords of the Fallen in later 2014 from CI Games, where as Xbox loyalists might find themselves at a distinct disadvantage. At the moment executive producer Tomasz Gop commented in a new interview with Gamespot that the studio is aiming for 1080p for both versions, meaning that the Xbox One and PS4 will be attempting to achieve that perfect 1080p resolution. However, he admitted that so far the results are better on Sony’s new console. “We’re working very hard right now to deliver PS4 and Xbox One in 1080p but I can’t confirm whether it’s possible,” Gop told IGN earlier this morning when inquired about the shift of resolution on dual consoles. “It’s probably easier for me to confirm it’ll happen for PlayStation 4, because it appears on this one we’re almost nailing it and pretty much there. For Xbox One though, it’s slightly tougher and we’re still working on it, so I can’t confirm that yet.” There’s still a flickering hope that Lords of the Fallen will still touch that threshold, but it’ll require a lot of the game developer’s attention and effort. Since the game is due sometime this year, chances are that the onrush to reach that 1080p on the Xbox One will underwhelm on its execution.

The executive producer at CI Games, spoke to IGN on the terms that while the team was confident they’d be able to hit at least 30fps, their current ambitions lay with a lower framerate so that they can achieve higher resolutions. Quite the gamble, but a necessary one if they desire to get the absolute best out of Lords of the Fallen‘s graphics. Especially since the game’s development, it has been constantly referred to as the “Dark Souls clone” for next-gen consoles. Which in of itself is an argument that has gotten widespread attention from the gaming community.

Earlier in February, we were given an inside look on the development of Lords of the Fallen. Below you can find the commentary from the development team as well as the expected gameplay that should be available for both PS4 and Xbox One versions. Though we are now uncertain if the resolution and overall execution from the studio is going to be as flawless on one console over the other.

Although it was announced last year, Lords of the Fallen is a project from the ex-Witcher producer Tomasz Gop and has considered itself as a Borderlands meets Dark Souls” experience.  It promises to deliver a challenge for those who choose to play it. Though, there is no doubt that it’ll have to deal with the expectations and constant comparison to those prior titles. Which could weigh in favor of the game, or completely undermine its impending launch. Tell us about your woes or hopes for the PS4 or Xbox One version of Lords of the Fallen. As well as what you’d like to see from the game developers as we approach the intended release.
