The month of April may not have satisfied PS Plus subscribers, but that might just change in May. Sony has just revealed its line-up of free games for the upcoming month, with the PS3 getting two free titles, the PS Vita getting two of its own, while the PS4 getting its regular one title. How glad you’ll be to play these games obviously comes down to preference, but there are definitely some noteworthy titles included.
First, let’s run down the PS3’s line-up. If heists in GTA 5 weren’t satisfying enough, you might find a good alternative with Payday 2, a well-received FPS that focuses on robbing stores, banks and pretty much anything else that contains valuables and money. Payday 2 isn’t a perfect game, but provides quality entertainment for fans of the genre, and the game was mostly well-received by critics and users alike. It has a combined score of 7.9 on Metacritic, with its great co-op multiplayer getting the most praise. It’s a great title to play with some friends, so make sure to pick it up. The other PS3 game to be made available freely is the platformer Puppeteer, an even better rated game that shines through great atmosphere, design and originality.
The PS Vita is also getting content worth looking at, with Muramasa Rebirth, the port of the popular Muramasa: The Demon Blade, a game that really struck gold on the Wii. If you’re more into sport sims than RPG’s and action, the second title might fit you better. The PS Vita is also getting Sony’s Hot Shots Golf, which should appease fans of more relaxing gameplay mechanics.
Last, but not least, we have the PS4, which is getting yet another platformer. This might comeĀ as a disappointment to many PS4 owners, but the truth is, the PS4 lacks titles still, and there’s not much Sony can actually offer. As long as games such as inFamous: Second Son continue to sell exceedingly well, it’s doubtful Sony will offer them up freely. Having said that, the PS4 game offered by PS Plus this month isn’t half-bad. In fact, it promises to be great. We’re talking about Stick it to the Man, the popular PS3 and Vita platformer. The game launches on the PS4 at the end of this month in North America, and early next month in Europe, meaning European players will actually get it on launch day.
And, that’s pretty much it for the May line-up for the PS Plus service. Keep in mind that starting with the 30th of April, the new line-up will replace the old one, which contained titles such as Mercenary Kings or BioShock: Infinite. How does the new line-up seem?
