Originally making itself known as a flash game which released in 2010, Thomas Was Alone saw a PC and Mac release in 2012, then eventually a PS3/PS Vita port the following year. The game was made available as a free download as part of the PlayStation Plus scheme in March 2014, however Bithell made it clear the 1 million figure doesn’t include PlayStation Plus downloads:

The majority of sales making up the sales is down to discounts, bundles, and other promotional offers – it was in August 2013 in which the sales had reached 700,000.
Thomas Was Alone encourages both platforming and puzzle elements, which challenges players to reach the end of each level whilst carefully maneuvering different characters, each of which hold unique abilities.
Bithell is currently working on his next title; Volume – a stealth game that promises “hundreds of challenging and exciting environments”.
