Keeping in tradition with last year, Nintendo has decided to opt out of appearing on stage at E3 (Electronic Entertainment Expo) in favor of a new method Nintendo is calling a digital event. Nintendo plans on hosting a series of live streams which will include the latest news and announcements from Nintendo as well as a special promotion for the newest Super Smash Bros installment. Last Year Nintendo partnered with Best Buy and allowed gamers to visit their local retailer to get a chance to try a demo of various titles such as Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Mario Kart 8, Super Luigi U, and more. This year Nintendo plans on doing the same, but specifically for the newest Super Smash Bros. Nintendo partnered up with Youtube content creators Mega64 to make the announcement:
Nintendo plans to do various live streams throughout the week of E3 starting with a digital event on Tuesday June 10th at 9 am PT and has been described by Nintendo as “a new kind of video program that will reveal and provide further detail about the gaming experiences on the way for Nintendo platforms in 2014 and beyond.”
Super Smash Bros is perhaps the most highly anticipated Wii U and 3DS title to date. This year Nintendo plans on creating a special Super Smash Bros. tournament at E3 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. Nintendo has invited 16 “highly skilled” Super Smash Bros. players and plans to announce who the players are and how the tournament can be watched in the coming weeks. If you would rather play the game than have to watch someone else do it, you can visit your local Best Buy during the week of E3 for a chance to play.
E3 is one of the biggest gaming events of the year, and it’s something that gamers everywhere look forward to. Each year brings new and exciting things for us experience. It’s nice to see Nintendo bringing E3 to the masses since it’s impossible for everyone to attend. Do you think this will give Nintendo an edge to let people try out E3 demos at their local Best Buy? The thought of trying out the newest Super Smash Bros. should excite any Wii U owner!
E3 2014 will be taking place between June 10th and 12th in Los Angeles.
