Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire Remakes Headed to 3DS

by GH Staff

Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire remakes have recently been announced.  The new games, titled Pokemon Omega Ruby and Pokemon Alpha Sapphire, are headed to the 3Ds and 2Ds this Fall.  The games are scheduled to be available worldwide come November.

In response to Nintendo’s recent financial postings, this could spell great news for the company.  It is no secret that Pokemon has always been a high selling point for the company, and it makes sense for Nintendo to rely on one of their strongest franchises to bring them out their rut.  Pokemon X and Y alone have sold over 12 million units, so the decision to revive an older entry in the Pokemon series is a wise one for Nintendo.  Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire were the highest selling games on the Gameboy Advance, completely dominating when they debuted in 2002, and 2003 here in the states.

No further details have been released on Pokemon Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, but it is expected that the game will receive a huge overhaul when it comes to graphics and gameplay.  Perhaps it is even safe to speculate that new mechanics and Pokemon types introduced in X and Y will make their way into Ruby and Sapphire.  The only comment made by Nintendo regarding the new titles is “The new titles promise to take players through a dramatic story within a spectacular new world.”  Keep a lookout here on Gamerheadlines for future information on Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
