How many of you have played Dota? Well, this is a fact that Dota fans and players are great in numbers, much less than our previously discussed games but the ratio is healthy enough to share and publish something about it. Now the big news is that the Halloween themed game’s event Diretide is coming back in the upcoming update.
It was 2012, when Diretide was first revealed by Valve and the reception was much greater than the expectations. The candy collecting event became a super hit. Players of Dota 2 loved it and waited anxiously for it throughout the year but Valve neither commented nor gave any hint about its arrival. However, the event is getting released very soon. The company also admitted that missing Diretide this year was a grave mistake. They also termed it as a communication gap between developers and the players. Valve in a statement explained that whenever a problem occurs, they give it time and try to handle in the best possible way but as far as Diretide is concerned, they shared the analysis with the fans and players. The reason for not launching it this year was the huge update and it took a long time for our developers to finalize it. The update was of much more importance than Diretide and it led to an unhappy situation for our fans.
Valve also explained that Diretide event is somewhat not trivial in nature. And the game’s code has also been changed in 2012. So it was difficult to complete and launch Diretide in 2013. The Dota 2 team was extremely busy and nobody tried to defend the Halloween event decision. The company also admitted the fact that they underestimated the dire need of Diretide for the players around the world. The Dota 2 Community should have been respected by us, Valve said.
The company indicated that the update and Diretide are in final testing phase and it will be a treat for our players and fans. A few changes have also been made to the event and it will be a surprise for the player’s community. A better Diretide is on its way now. One of the Dota developers said that they aren’t mistake proof and they are clearly focused on fixing their mistakes and flaws.
Indeed great gestures by Valve as most of the other companies don’t bother to inform their fans. They explained the whole thing in detail and acknowledged the wrong prioritization. Diretide was fabulous and its inclusion will make the game more interesting than ever. The upcoming update was much needed right now as the game was becoming “Stale”. I hope the in game models issues would also be addressed as it was irritating for many of the players.
