EA UK has posted a new trailer for The Sims 4 – the latest entry in the long running life simulation series. The trailer focuses on character (ahem, Sim) creation and the various features that will be part of that process. Producer Ryan Vaughn walks us through the video, highlighting key aspects along the way. Much like previous titles, players are able to pick and choose various options for their characters, whether it’s hair style, types of clothing, piercings, and so on – however, in The Sims 4, the option to physically alter body features is available through a simple click and drag system. We see Vaughn alter the appearance of both Bella and Mortimer Goth – two famous Sims within the franchise.
It seems much more detail can be applied to characters with the new “detail mode” as Vaughn puts it – this allows players to customize particular regions, specifically on the face, whether it’s a part of the cheek, collar bone structure, eyebrow positioning, and so forth. Personality traits are also applied, which all play a role in the aspirations each creation wishes to pursue – Mortimer wants to become a “Renaissance Sim” due to his traits being based on “genius”, “bookworm”, and “creative”. Bella, on the other hand, is given “romantic”, “outgoing”, and “active”, resulting in the aspiration to be “Friend to the World”.
No official release date has been set as of yet, but the window of Q3/Q4 2014 applies worldwide – the game will be available on Windows PC and OS X. It wouldn’t be too surprising if we get a console port after the initial release due to previous titles making themselves available on various consoles eventually.
