Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot mentions that Assassin’s Creed games will still appear on Xbox 360 and PS3 for the “forseeable future”. Fans worried that the stealth action series will be leaving the last gen behind will now rest assured that we’ll still see some Assassins’ adventures on our current consoles.
Assassin’s Creed Unity was announced as this year’s next entry in the series, a next gen only title which will be set in France during the French Revolution. Another title was rumored alongside this, codenamed ‘Comet’, a game for Xbox 360 and PS3 where you play as a Templar. This game is also rumored to be a direct sequel to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, featuring characters from that game as well.
Unity is rumored to contain a new 4 player co-op mode, but Ubisoft has not confirmed this to be true or false just yet. Assassin’s Creed games since Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood all contain a multiplayer mode, but this will be the first time the series gets a co-op stand alone mode. Very little solid information is available at present so we’ll have to wait for more directly from Ubisoft concerning both Unity and future Assassin’s Creed titles in general. E3 2014 would be the best place to let us know more and Ubisoft might be aiming for exactly that.
