Minecraft is ready for PS 3, the PS 4 version will have to wait

[dropcap size=dropcap]4[/dropcap]J Studios are preparing to test the PlayStation 3 version of Minecraft. The announcement was posted on Twitter, by the company itself.

“We’re hard at work getting Minecraft: PS3 Edition ready for testing just now. The other platforms & TU14 will be later,” said 4J Studios on the social platform.

The news come a shock to many fans that were expecting the game to be available for PS 4 as well, on the console’s launch date. Previously, during this year’s Gamescon, Marcus Persson talked about the future of Minecraft and confirmed that it will be ported on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita. However, he did not mention any official date. Later, he confirmed the news on twitter: “Minecraft+Sony=true,” Persson said.

Now, asked by another fan on the same platform about the future of the PS 4 version, 4J studio replied: No, it won’t be a launch title.” And thus, we know for sure that Minecraft will not come to the PS 4 consoles, at least not these days, when the next gen devices from Sony are preparing to be released on the market.

I think everyone is aware of the popularity of the game Minecraft. Two years ago, during the beta test period, Mojang managed to sell over 1 million copies of the game. Meanwhile, the game was released for both, Xbox 360 and mobile devices, and the developers reported a boost in Minecraft’s sales.

Thus, in just one year after the release of Minecraft for Xbox 360, the console version of the game has been sold in more than six million copies worldwide. 4J Studios also announced in May, this year that the PC version of the popular sand box game was sold in more than 10 million units.
