PDP Working With Nintendo On New Wii/Wii U Controller

by GH Staff

Video game peripheral  company Performance Designed Products (PDP) has announced they are working with Nintendo in order to develop a new controller for use on the Wii and Wii U, which is to take influence and inspiration from the GameCube controller. Although no sneak peaks have been released, it wouldn’t be too surprising if this controller is to coincide with the release of the upcoming Super Smash Bros. game – after all, it is called the Wired Fight Pad.

No, this isn’t the new controller but is an example of previous peripherals from PDP. This is a Wii pad specifically designed for versus modes.

It will feature many recognisable Nintendo characters such as Yoshi and Mario in terms of controller decale. It’s to hit shelves during this year’s holiday season at a price of $24.99 and will be available at most game retailers. Note that the design is based on the original GameCube controller, and will plug into the Wii Remote External Extension Connector – the compatibility includes games that support Classic/Classic Pro controllers along with a handful of Virtual Console titles.

PDP have been known to create other peripherals on other consoles and handheld systems, including the PS2, PS3, Xbox, Xbox 360, 3DS, and many others.
